2nd Annual Art Basil

  • Treiber Farms 38320 County Road 48 Peconic, NY, 11958 United States (map)

VSOP Projects and Treiber Farms is pleased to re-present the 2nd Annual Art Basil, a multi-faceted presentation of food and farm related art at The Old Barn at Treiber Farms in Peconic, New York
Cleverly named after the internationally renowned Art Basel Art Fair, Art Basil explores the fertile intersections of art and agriculture.
Food-themed artworks and ambitiously curated art projects will be exhibited beside artful arrangements of plants, produce, and farm goods produced on Treiber Farms’ 60 acre North Fork property.
Among the projects to be presented at Art Basil 2021:

• A large-scale community art project of hand-painted signs for real or imagined farm stand products.
• An installation of Shiburi and natural-dye linen banners by Lesley Obrock, Kym Fullmer, and Stephanie Pinerio.
• Hand-painted, food-themed, optical illusion rock sculptures by Brooklyn artist Betty Rubble.
• Mushroom Spore Prints by Peter Treiber Jr.
• “Bee Bodega” Pollinator Sculptures by Hannah Bigeleisen.
• Functional ceramics by Melissa Gabrielsen of Plants and Clay and Elizabeth Eisenstein of ZZIEE Ceramics.
• The “Wall of Prints” including rare, strange, and extraordinary “food photography”.
• The Grand Opening of the Treiber Farm Store, featuring Treiber’s produce, farm swag, and jarred goodies.
• A Basil-Lined Mini-Golf Putting Green with raffle giveaways.
• A commemorative, limited edition screen print by Double Wonderful.

Many of the artworks, plants, and farm goods will be available for purchase. A portion of the weekend’s proceeds will benefit CAST and their ongoing work supporting North Fork families in need. Guests are welcome to visit the farm free of charge and without any obligation.

Special farm tours and pop-up presentations will be made throughout the weekend.

Art Basil 2022 will be on view Saturday & Sunday, September 17 & 18, 2022 at Treiber Farms, 38320 County Road 48, Peconic, from 11am to 6pm both days.
